What you need to know about inkjets and ink utilization?

July 26, 2010 0

Inkjet printer ink is probably the most expensive liquid ever invented by mankind. Sold at $3,000 per liter, the substance is pricier by over 500% than the most expensive Champagne. But did you know that a good volume of total ink supply still lingers with the inkjet cartridge when the printer sensor issues a no ink warning prompt?

The Magnetic Roller's Role in Laser Printer Image Development

What is common to both toner cartridges and solar panels? Both require energy to carry out its respective operations and work efficiently. Solar panels need sunshine to store electrical energy into its storage batteries while cartridge units run on electrical energy to sustain the supply of DC voltage bias to its magnetic rollers. In the absence of solar energy, the solar panels will not be able to convey electrical energy into its batteries resulting to insufficient power supply in line with the underutilized energy storage bins. Meanwhile, the toner cartridge will not be able to supply adequate toner powder to form the raster graphic image and bond its particles on the media, to cause uneven toner delivery and consequent defects over printouts.

Disposable Toner Cartridges: Is it ‘Planned Obsolescence’ all the way?

Is the manufacture of disposable toner cartridges classified as ‘Planned Obsolescence’? Most likely! Right from the start, cartridge units are produced with an fixed time line or a serviceable life. This means, that the product easily becomes out of date or obsolete up to a prescribed time – similar in concept to the expiration date for processed foods and medicines. In essence, the production theory behind consumables rests on enticing consumers towards multiple purchases - over a one-time purchase, until the product deteriorates and a replacement becomes mandatory.

Ever since desktop printers came into our midst, every little sort of printing trouble seems to have confounded users to no end. A few decades ago, printing was exclusive to local print shops and this prevented end users from experiencing nagging print troubles. But with printing now crossed over to homes and offices, it seems that users never fail to encounter print irregularities in the operation of modern day laser printers. The usual suspect for print defects is of course the toner cartridge, particularly if its a third party unit.
